Nostril piercing pain?

Asked by sweettart2001 about 1 year ago, 1 answer.

Ok, I had this done in march. It's now november. I had it done professionally. I washed, sterilized, everything. Most of the time it's ok, but every so often the area around the hole swells and gets painful to the touch. I'll take out whatever stud I...

have in and clean the hole, soaking it in cold water to control the swelling. I'm pregnant, so I'm sure that my high sensitivity during this time is a contributing factor. The swelling and pain tend to only last for a day or two, and are never accompanied by discharge or anything else that signifies an infection. Unfortunately because of the pregnancy I can also not take an anti-inflammatory like ibuprofin/advil. Any advice would be nice. I'm also sure that once I buy a couple more more highly-priced, quality screws this will happen less often. I also was never informed on how often to change the piercing, if that is necessary. I know of people that have had their piercings in for years without touching them - and others that change theirs on almost a daily basis. Is there a right/wrong way to handle a nostril piercing in this respect? Should I take it out to shower? Once a week at that time, once a month, no big deal? Just curious! I love the look, my nose is my face's cutest feature and now it has an added attention-getter ;-)

first off, profeshionall done means with a needle
so if you got yours done at a salon or mall with people who used a gun
those people are not profesional and are about as qualified as you are
(not at all in other words)
now to answer your questions
it should be almost healed now
hopefully you dont have an actual stud in there (an earring stud) those arnt meant for your nose and will increase your risk of infection and make healing time slower
try to fing a nose peircings called a pig screwthe top bit will be a ball or cone (or ball with a gem) and the other half will curl around a but like a pigs tale
its all surgical steel and will feel much better and help the area heal
also after you get it done you should wait at least 3 months before changing it
so if you didnt, try to change it as little as possible untill its fully healed
also, if you havce a proper surgical steel peircing in there, you can leave it in there for as long as you want without changing it
you dont need to take it out when you shower, sleep, are on your period, ect
and try to avoid taking it out untill its healed
but do switch to a surgical steel peircing
