it hurts a little, but then havin metal put it your body is going to chaffe a bit. but healing process is relativly quick, but it wil be tender for a few weeks. and it's advisable to get it done somewhere profesionally, where they use a needle not a gun. also they put a ring in NOT a stud, only because it's easier to clean and keep mobile. you don't need to clean in more than twice a day, beginning and end of day with a simple salt water solution, also use a cotton but to clean it with...but the inside of the nose is relativly self-cleaning, so as long as you rotate the ring and clean it, it should keep the wound itself clean.
I've had both my nostrils pierced and my septum...so don't fret (although I don't really have any piercings anymore...I think they lookd gorgeous, but they don't suit my work now)...remember though, most piecings will leave a scare, even if they'e looked after REALLY well and there are no problems..xxx

yup, my lip on scarred too...if it's any consolation, the nose doesn't hurt even 1/30th of the lip! I can't comment on the tounge because after a a few days I forgot I'd had it pieced (both times!) so clearly I didn't find it painful...and no one can tell you how long the pain will last, it's individual for every person, dependent on healing time, care, if it gets tugged (as my lip did by my 2 year old- ouch!) but the inside, for me, took about 2 weeks'ish to stop being so tender, the outside was relativly painless for me.

but the noe, it's not so much the outside that hurts it's the inside, only because like the lip the inside is mucous lined, so there's quit a few nerves there...

but you'll be fine, it's one of the easiest piercings I had and once you can take the ring out, there's some fab jewellary for it, so I did like it...ummm, you've made me think about getting mine done again now lol...healed up ages ago...but I really did like it! so that should answer it from my perspective...if I'd have it done 15 years later, then it can't be that bad...enjoy x

So much to clear up here. I used to work in a tattoo/piercing parlor for 2 years.

-It will hurt - but every piercing hurts to some extent. Although, a nose piercing is not that painful and it's worth it if you want one. It only hurts for a second - and then Bam! You have a brand new piercing!

-They can pierce it with either a Stud or a Ring. That is up to you. It makes no difference in the healing process - it's just a matter of what you think looks better.

-It takes 3 months to heal completely and you can nott switch the jewelry in it for 3 months also - if you switch it too early you risk infection, your body rejecting the piercing, and damaging the healing process. This is why you make sure you like the piece of jewelry that you pick out - because you are stuck with it for 3 months before you can change it.

-To clean it - you can use a spray bottle with warm sea salt water, or you can purchase the H2ocean spray that they sell in the shops.

-The inside of the nose is NOT self-cleaning. You need to use a cotton swab dipped in the solution (warm sea salt water or h2ocean spray) to clean the inside also. Dirt get's in your nose all day the piercing does need to be cleaned from the inside also.

-When you first get it pierced - clean it 3 times a day. After the 3 month mark - just clean it the the morning and at night.

I got mine done in september and it didnt hurt too bad but I mean its a peircing it's supposed to hurt but personaly I thought that it hurt worse the next day when it was swollen. The swelling doesnt show cause it swells on the inside so dont worry about that. The only advise I can give you is dont touch it casue it will get infected it takes about 6 months to be healed. mine isnt healed yet.

I got mine done with a gun. I honestly did not feel it. I got my bellybutton done about a year ago and that was sooo painful. but my nose was fine. I have a real low pain tolerance too. I got my nose on new years so it still hasnt healed, but I change the stud all the time. it only hurts a bit and only when I fiddle with it. go for it. get it done.
