"now a days you have people getting pregneant as early as 10, though notice it wasn't till after they started teaching the sex edd in forth grade."

Teaching sex ed in school is not what caused the rise in teenage pregnancy. The reverse is true; lack of knowledge about sex and contraceptives is one of the many reasons for it.

Anyway, back to the question. Obama is charismatic, young, and energetic. He has a way of putting people at ease about the many problems the country is facing. He also represents a new type of Democrat, one who isn't afraid of advocating liberal views as past Democratic candidates have been.

Realistically, there is just no way Obama will be able to accomplish everything he has said he will as president. This makes his campaign no different from anyone else. However, he has a message of hope and change at a time when people desperately need to hear it.

There's also the age issue. I don't think McCain chose Palin merely because she is a woman, or an ultra-conservative woman. I think he chose her primarily because she is a young woman. There is a perception among some undecided voters that McCain represents a generation and era which are coming to an end, while Obama represents all things that are on the rise. I think McCain chose Palin hoping his campaign could compete with that. It's why Obama, conversely, chose Biden: he represents experience and savvy same as McCain, also an issue on the minds of undecideds.

So anyway, many people are excited at the prospect of a man like Obama becoming president. Obviously, it has yet to be seen what kind of president he'll be. But I do think he's risen the expectations for his presidency so high that he will badly need a strong majority in both houses of Congress to help him out.

He wouldn't...
It'd be like making ME president... I have no experience!

Mccain fought for our freedoms and has always been dedicated to our country. He's an amazing man with amazing courage... he can step up to a lot more than Obama.

Anything's got to be better than another 4 years of Bush...
Considering McCain has apparently agreed with Bush 90% of the time it would be like electing Bush back in...

That's a lie, Mccain disagrees with bush all the time (ty) acually he has liberal views. So either way we get a liberal, but I do believe there's a better of the two and I just don't think obama is ready to run a country when I don't event think he's a senator.

it is amazing that when you see questions like this, all the conservatives have to say are inane comments like "lacks character, leadership qualities, and solid core values", or "Because they've been blinded by the light and lulled by a smooth tongue...", or they just repeat lies they heard about him like "he wants to teach sex edd as early as 1st grade" and "he wants to raise taxes". They offer all these platitudes with nothing to back it up. Most of the liberals give detailed, thought provoking reasons why they like Obama. If you look at the content of each side's answers, it is clear to see that conservatives cannot give one true, and concrete reason why Obama would not make a good president.

Agreed. Has anyone noticed the majority of the teen pregnancy questions on THIS site? Some of the members asking, have NO IDEA what even CAUSES pregnancy. Sexual Education needs IMPROVEMENT... not deletion...

seems to me the conservative answers dont NEED explaining.and how many times am I going to see the word platitudes? (I love the big words) the platitudes dont need to be explained if people would look and listen. the truth speaks for itself. when the truth is told, you don't need to "back it up" with long explanations like the 5 paragragh narratives I sometimes see from some of the liberal leaning responders trying to make their point. good political banter IS healthy, but c'mon Barack Obama? this was the best the dems could do? no banter needed. just by their own choice they demonstrate the desparation that is rippling through the ranks. I can't wait for the debates. oh one question, are teleprompters allowed or is Obama going to get "all messed up"?

he wont!!! its nothing agaisnt his race...he trys to say that everyone is soo concerned with it, when really he was the one who attacked McCain for being white

not only cant he make up his mind...but he has no real personal opinion, he repeats everything that people tell him tosay

did you notice that when everyone was against drilling in alaska he was to? now that there are more supporters he changed his mind followed the statement..."well despite previous sayings I think it would be best for us to push forward and drill"

do you really want someone that cant make up their damn mind as the president of the us??? I sure the hell wouldnt...all 147 days of expireince as a senator he still wouldnt know if he should push the button or not!!!

"seems to me the conservative answers dont NEED explaining"

fau, could that be because you can't explain it? Your post only reinforces my contentions. So basically you are saying conservatives just need to offer their opinions and don't need to offer any facts to "back it up". Do you consider that intelligent well-informed debate? If you want to persuade people, you need explain the reasons why you feel the way you do.

ellissa_hyde, please tell us where and when Obama "attacked McCain for being white", or said "well despite previous sayings I think it would be best for us to push forward and drill"? He said neither of these, and if you know otherwise, it should be easy to direct us to the quotes. Otherwise it is just another lie and smear.
