It depends on the state you live in. Some states have specific requirements for you to get tax free items. For instance, you don't have to pay tax in some states on clothing as long as each item is under $100. While in other states, the no-tax deal may only apply to school supplies (pencils, notebooks, etc) or laptops.

Also, you should look into when exactly the tax free weekend is happening. Some states have it at different times and at different lengths.
