How do I prune azaleas to keep them relatively small?

feed them a slow release fertilzer to keep them bushy and keep trimming them. azaleas are hardy shrubs and will keep growing. Please check the species of you azaleas, some might not the fertilzer you feed them

yeah check what type you have because there are tree-ish ones and low growing bushy ones so if you try to trim the tree ones you much just end up with a much of sticks and no greenery
