Just because your friends tell you to listen to modern music doesn't mean you have to. listen to what you want, and don't give into the fads unless you truly want to . I honestly cant frigging stand modern music. If you ask me, good quality music died after the 90's. As for good rock bands, all I can suggest are good older bands because rock music pretty much doesn't exist nowadays, I highly recommend Dio, Rush, Van Halen, Ozzy Osbourne, Iron Maiden, Black sabbath (both the ozzy and dio eras), metallica, lynyrd skynyrd, aerosmith, zz top, kiss, ac/dc, motorhead... and the list goes on...
