New mouse problem

ok so I've got thsi new mouse, its a logitech. and I guess ist pertty good adn on teh back it shows a picture of a cursor and liek a trail behind it which is nice and smooth then one that is all choppy adn stuff. So im guessing that you want the nice smoothe line right? well I've been using it and its motion across the screen in like all..chopy, it isnt smoothe like a normal mouse. It like goes up adn over up and over when I go diagonal(if you get my point) is there ANY way to fix this because its really annoying, thanks

edit: its a wired, optical mouse

just go to your screen on your wallpaper minimizing what your on right now left click then it should say view, sort by, refresh, paste, paste shortcut etc. at the bottom it should say personalize click on that and find the one that says mouse pointers click on that and you're good to go if you need any more info or if you're stuck just send me funmail and I'll try to help you out more
