Advertising a new business

Okay, so my dad just opened his new business and I am his office manager. Well there are sooo many people in town who know my dad from his past experience but we are having a really hard time getting the business going! We printed up fliers, we paid...

the radio staion $550 bucks to advertise a commercial on there for 6 weeks, and we have auotmotive stores spreading the word. We've had 1 customer this week! Any brighter ideas on how to advertise? He's an auto mechanic BTW.

my dad advertises in phone books, newspapers, and coupon books!!
umm, he has an add on a bilboard.

just do some local advertising.. and have a fundraiser =)

Maybe try for 1 month - every Wednesday, the first 5 cars get a free oil change - shower the with over-friendly service and ask if they would tell their friends (word of mouth)...Take care !!
