Need info on losing weight - quickly

My Body Shape - but probably a 100lbs heavy Asked by jojoc 6 months ago, 5 answers.

Hi, I'm 19 at 5'4 and 235 lbs. I need help with losing weight. I've been trying since I was 15 to lose weight but instead I am gaining. My ideal weight is somewhere between 111 - 140 and I am so far off. I am desperate, becomming seriously depressed and...

I don't want to be fat the rest of my life.

I started at 245 lbs and somehow I managed to go down 10 lbs without any acknowledgement that I did until I stepped on a scale last December.

I would like an advice, any meal plan, proven quick fixes or long term goals exercise plan. I'm really not into supplements because they are temporary and in the long run damage your heart, etc. I need help.

I am in university right now and I'm going home at the end of June and I don't want my parents to still see me this big. I don't know what to do.

Please help me. I have have proportionate body figure and curvy. I love my
curves but I want to be slimmer and toned at at a healthy weight!

Losing too much weight too quickly can be dangerous to your health, so I suggest that you do it gradually. If you can, also be sure to talk to your doctor before starting any kind of diet, if you plan on dieting.

When it comes to what to do, here are some suggestions:

- Substitute your normal drinks with water. Water has 0 calories, so it will benefit you more than something WITH calories or tons of sugar.

- Choose to have healthy snacks. Snacking is normal and okay to do, but eat your favorite fruits or vegetables instead of sugary or fatty snacks. Things like pickles have 0 calories as well, so that's another good thing.

- Don't eat anything heavy after 7pm. Late in the evening people are most likely burn less calories, so that can add on negatively. If you're hungry and do need to have a snack, remember that healthy snacks are the way to go.

- Try to do at least 30 minutes of physical activity a day. Whether you go for a walk, go for a jog or do anything fun, being active is the key to being fit.

- Don't skip meals or go on crazy diets that restrict food. If you're hungry and you don't eat because you feel it would help with weight loss, you only deprive your body of nutrients it needs. When you do this, your body goes into starvation mode and actually stores fat. This can cause the opposite of what you want, so be sure to eat normally.

I hope that helps!

How to LOSE weight?

First, determine from the information below, what your weight should be. Then set yourself goals of a week, 2 weeks, a month, 3 months, 6 months and a year. As you see yourself meeting your goals it becomes easier. Remember, you didn't gain your weight overnight so don't expect to lose if overnight. Plus, weight lost slowly is more likely to stay off than weight lost in a hurry.

BMI (Body Mass Index) is a measurement of body fat based on height and weight that applies to both men and women between the ages of 18 and 65 years.

BMI Classification

25 to 29.99 Overweight
30 to 34.99 Obesity (Class 1)
35 to 39.99 Obesity (Class 2)

How can I Lose 1 pound of body weight per week?

One pound of body fat is equal to about 3500 calories. So to lose 1 pound of weight per week, you need to eat 500 calories/day LESS than you burn.

But it's not a good idea to lose weight simply by cutting calories. As well as decreasing calories you should increase your daily physical exercise. This helps to burn calories and build more lean tissue which in turn burns more calories.

What should a minimum calorie intake be?

As a guide to minimum calorie intake, the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) recommends that calorie levels never drop below 1200 calories per day for women or 1800 calories per day for men. Even these calorie levels are quite low.

Another thing that helps to lose weight is to always eat a good breakfast. That helps to jump start your metabolism which helps start burning calories. Also, try to drink 8 eight ounce glasses of water every day. One before every meal (except breakfast) and before all snacks. That helps curb your appetite which helps reduce caloric intake.
