why is the Star Spangled Banner the national anthem? what makes this piece better than America The Beautiful and other wonderous pieces?

I think they're equally pointless...I mean is it necesary to have a national anthem? NO! IT'S NOT! but I think people believe the star spangle banner is better b/c some dude wrote it as he watched all the stuff that it metions happen while sitting in a boat Oo

America the beautiful glorifies the beauty of the nation and the brotherhood, and God' will in our favor.

My opinion only why its more suited for it) The start spangled banner is our nation anthem because the title is about our flag. it talks about the war of 1812 but can be applicable to our initial fight for freedom. It is in essence the battle cry for the nation who believes in freedom, and started the new age of governance for the whole world. They give the French Revolution too much credit for the change in European style of government... who do you think inspired them?
