I've been online looking for answers to reasons why my vagina smells bad. I shower and clean it well, then a few hours later it smells again. I've heard that douching is bad for you. And I dont think its an infection. It doesnt burn or itch or anything. It just smells. Help?

If you don't have an STD, and you take care of it. You should try 2 things, #1.. Douche... #2, watch what you eat, change you're diet. Eat a lot of fruit, peaches, apples, watermelon. Eventually it will start to smell sweet. Good luck!

I agree with the eating more fruits...usually what we eat reflects on how we smell. Try drinking more water too and add more nutritious food to your diet.

vaginas have a natural smell, so if its always been there, thats probably your natural smell
yes, douching is bad for you
and its unessesary to clean it, as your vagina cleand itself
the food that you eat though also has some impact on its smell
things like frutes will make it smell and taste good
while things like alcohol and ciggarettes will make it small and taste aweful

Im sure that you know that you need to see your gyne. Im also a doctor but you need to ask your self certain questions. You stated that you dont think that there is an infection. When was the last time you were tested for STD's. If you are having unproctected sex and can not say 100% that your partner is faithful then you may have an STD. Reason being is that it's more common for odor to be the only noticable sign/symptom with at least 4 different STD's.
If you all of a sudden just noticed a change in the smell that's foul and it never used to be that way before then it warrants a trip to the doc. Trust me I see more patients with this problem every day and its related to an STD.
Remember an STD does not mean that your partner has cheated on you MOST people are symptom free and do not know they are carrying diseases.
Even if an STD is out of the question you still should address this with your health care professionals. Douching is ok temporarily until you get your appt in. I would recommend warm water with the old fashioned douche bag. Do not douche the week prior to your appt and if you like it try adding yogurt to your diet it will promote vaginal health.
Good Luck

some disease and infections do not have to itch or burn. Sometimes a bad smell is the only sign of a vaginal infection. I would go to your doctor or walk in clinic and let them know your concern. They will make you give a urine sample and run it for tests. The only other thing I would suggest is buying feminin wipes for the vaginal area and carry them with you. If you use them everytime you use the washroom it should help to eliminate the odour.

I had the same thing-you might have chlamydia. a lot of times you just have a smell-I had one and my gyno told me it was just "BV"-an overgrowth of bacteria in the vagina. however, when I changed doctors, I was told I had chlamydia. it's curable. they give you like three or four pills you have to take all at the same time, then no sex for two-three weeks and it's gone. go see your gyno.
