My vagina smells

My vagina smells like fish and people say you will have t ogo to the doctors... WHAT ARE THEY GOING TO DO,WILL IT HURT,AND I don't know WHAT MY VAGINA SUPPOSED TO OOK LIKE( im 12)

use a douche

maybe you have a yeast infection or you just dont know how to shower. DONT DOUCHE IT WILL PROBABLY MAKE THINGS WORSE.

wll it seems that noone has really helped u. the problem is is that you have to clean down there a little better. take a nice hot bath and wash your entire body. it should get rid of most the smell. hope I helped and need further advice fun mail me ~kaitlyn~

Actually, I was saying that I, actually, DID help by posting a link to a great site that explains all about what, I think, the person asking the question, has and that is Bacterial Vaginosis. As I explained, I know because I have had it myself.

She doesn't need to douche. It is a medical fact that douching is not good for you and it isn't a yeast infection because the symptoms for that are not consistent with hers and, I think that telling someone to take a bath is down right rude.

I hope this one doesn't get deleted because my main goal here, is to be helpful.

BUT I've HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR YEARS... MY BROTHER HAS THE SAME PROBLEM BUT HE SMELLS MUSTY.. IM POSITIVE THAT WHAT I SMELL... 100% SHURE... I DONT NO WHAT MY VAGINA IS SUPPOSED TO LOOK LIKE!

Sweetie, All you have to do, if you don't want to go to a Dr is to go to Social Services in your area. They can check you out and give you antibiotics to take. I went there. The lady did a pelvic exam. These aren't painful. It's just a little uncomfortable having someones hand down there but you need to have it done. You know that you don't want to go around smelling fishy.

The thing that your brother has is not the same thing that you have. Yours is a fishy smell and his is a musty smell. My son had that and it finally went away. I think it may have been a hormone problem.

I found one that has a video but it's a bit graphic. I've had a lot of exams and I couldn't even hardly watch this one. It's mainly meant to show doctors how to perform them, not how the patient will feel. But I'll keep looking for the right one.

Also, this is very important if you are having sex. Your partner will need to go with you to your appointment or to Social Services. He will need to take antibiotics too and he can't take yours because you have to take all of them (and so does he) for them to work. If he doesn't get treated, he will give it (Bacterial Vaginosis) back to you the next time you have sex.

Dont douche. Not necessary. I think you should be open w/your mom and tell her whats going on w/u so she can take you to see a doctor just in case its something serious. First though...try showering really well. Do this for a couple of days for your next couple showers and use a good body wash like Dove or something. Wash your body really well and clean in your special area as well as you can. Do this consistently and see if the smell is still there after your shower etc...if it is, then you should see a doctor. Dont worry, its good that your noticing now and can do something about it. Funmail me if you like tc
