My vagina?

I have a question about my vagina, it is about something down there that I don't know what it is and what the purpose of it is. Towards the top of my vagina there is a piece of skin that kinda looks like a flap to me, it just hangs there. I was wondering what is and what is it used for? Also why do I have it and why is it so floppy sometimes? Thanks
