My son's pot belly

During the pool season, my son seemed to shy away from the pool. He would make excuses and stay home whenever possable. Whe he had to go, he would hang out with a group of other teens. Now I'm a nurse, who now is a stay at home mom. Well, one day I had to wake up my son for his high school's first day on Augast 14 (Yeah it's early, but it's private and gets out before most) , and when I came into the room he didn't have a shirt on, but was up. When he saw me he threw on a shirt, but I saw his fat rolls (about 4 of them) and some man breasts. We went to the doctor a week or so lator, and again he had to take off his clothes (except boxers) in front of me, and he was obviously overweight. He was weighed to be 5'6 and 155 pounds, and I have been ashamed of not realizing his change in girth the past year (his last physical, about a year and a half ago brought him to 5'4 and 105 pounds) and even more ashamed when the doctor told me that he was at rist of becoming overweight and had way to much fat on him.

well I dont see how this is a question, but I would recomend you reveal the sources of how he came 2 this, im 170 pounds and 6ft tall , im overweight but im going down, you need 2 show him how hes become mianly because he knows hes overwieght but in order 2 signify that you and he knows this so you can connect and work on the problem by creating not a diet plan but more of a things 2 avoid plan, whilst your a nurse you can help him out there, but a lot of kids get fat because of bad parenting examples, make sure you are a proper role models and if all is set, your son will be fine in no times...

Good luck, David

A lot of kids gain weight before they have a growth spurt. This could be what is going on here. There is no reason to be ashamed or to panic. If you are concerned try to adopt some healthy habits like eating less junk food, sugar and fat and more whole grains, vegetables, and fruit. And of course try to get more physically active.
