Can you put the litter box at the top of the stairs when you go out?

Put the litter box in a permanent room. Go into that room with your kitten. Since thats where they'll take a shite everyday, they have to get used to it. put food and water in there and stay in there with her for about an hour and put her in her litter box a couple times. she'll get used to it. I did that and also took my cat from one room, and walked him into the litter box numerous times a day. he was looking around while I carried him and got the pattern of where it was and got use to the whole house

She's pretty young...she might be afraid of the stairs right now.

As I said, bring it up when you have to go out, but when you're home leave it downstairs...she'll know where it is if it's not upstairs and when she's feels comfortable taking the stairs aone, she'll do it.

My kitten wouldn't go downstairs until he was 4 months old...

Now what about this weekend im going canoeing w/ my bro sis and dad and my mom and step dad are going to grand haven so she will be home alone should I put her in my room with her bed food water and litter box? Or leave her with my bff mattie who has 7 cats?

Don't leave her alone...if your friend can take her, good, but make sure she sets up a room where the other cats won't be near her - the older cats might not take to her too well.

just put the litter box somewhere where you will not have to re-move it as you kitten's business smells worst. that way if you do not move it then she will know exactly where it is. Also, you MUST point out to the cat that this spot (litter box) is where she MUST do her business . This menouver might take a while, but be gentle, loving, and understanding as this may take a few days -weeks and she might do her business somewhere else. I hope that my advice helps with the litter box problem.

Either move the litter box closer to the kitten...or get another one.
