My mom is against birth control.

+ refuses to get it for me. She doesn't care if I'm sexually active that much anymore because she thinks I'm smart enough to make my own decisions.

But if I do decide to have sex, I want to be totally protected.
Not just from condams. I don't want to risk anything at all.

She said it's just really bad for your body.. And messes up your horomones and she had really bad side effects when she was on it as a teenager. We're a lot a like, so she's afraid that will happen to me. But I think it should be my choice.

- is birth control really bad for your body?
- could I get it without her? (not saying I would ever, but I'm just wondering)
- has anyone else had bad side effects from the pill too?

yes birth control can be bad for your body cause it does totally screw with your hormones.

Yes you can get it without her at planned parenthood or a clinic of the sort.

I gained over 30 pounds form birthcontrol I was on depo, when you stop taking it you kinda go through withdrawls also. but I'm off it now and back to normal haha

I lost weight with birth control, and you can get it for free at your planned parent hood. it regulates your hormones but can make you a little moody if you go off of them. ...only until your own hormomes kick back in. I have been on it for years, and I am great but by brother is a natural-pathic doctor and says how terrible in the long run...so who really knows everybody is so different anyway its hard to say. make your own educated decision..all I have to say is its better to be protected then not. but make sure to use condoms too to portect you from stds. your doc can educate you on all your concerns about the pill.

and I honestly think your mother is ignorant for not letting you use b/c.
yea it doesnt protect you from stds, but at least you wont get pregnant.
I've heard that b/c helps protect against ovarian cancer in the long run...

well iunno..I guess just do what you want because alll of us have had different answers lol. and btw just go to a planned parenthood and they'll give it to you. im sure theres one by you
