My best friend

Asked by futuremissionary101 5 months ago, 10 answers.

Hey, this is for Christians. My best friend and I both go to a Baptist church school. I think she is a Christian, but she doesn't listen to Christian music. We've never really talked about it, so I don't know how to approach her with it. Please help me,...

she's my best friend, and I want to know her better.

As Christians we grow in our faith / walk and progress at different rates - she's probably 'simply not there yet' - growing takes time, study, prayer, and getting what we need from the preaching and singing, 'Praising' - it's troubling you said: I think she is a Christian - you know how important it is that she 'know' - none of us are guaranteed the next hour - make sure of that and let her set her own pace, being there for love and support...for He is indeed, Worthy, Amen !!

u know she is your friend, you know she likes u, tense down. just because she might not listen to every drop of the same music you do doesn't mean anything. you just have different tastes. your riding in the car together don't be ashamed to listen to it. once again friend.

There's also lots of different kinds of christian music that you could both listen to together. For example christian music can be...

Christian Gospel
Christian Rock
Christian Rap
Christian Country

So I'm sure you can both find common ground on any one of those levels.
I'm quite partial to Underoath myself; Underoath being a christian screamo band.
Good luck.

Not everyone needs to be a christian...
there are other religions and non-religions that exist...

Well, if you're both going to a religious school, direct discussions of religion are on the table. Why not just directly ask her what she believes about religion?

You've already put a wrench in the gears; you're assuming that you know better than her, because you listen to one type of music that she doesn't. Its just a matter of opinion. She isn't required to like the same music as you.

If you don't actually KNOW if she likes it, then maybe you should indirectly expose her to it, and let her decide for herself...

It is one thing to get to know her better, but, another altogether, to attempt to make her in any way, accept something that she is either not interested in, or does not enjoy.

My thoughts are just be a friend, and don't try to change her. If her values do not reflect your own, and you are uncomfortable with them, find another friend.

She may be a Christian but she might not like Christian music. She may absolutely love the lyrics but face it, most Christian music is a little old fashion.

Try to get her into the modern music like Christian rock.

Try this. She and you do a study on music and its importance from the pages of scripture. There are a miriade of books on the subject of music, biblically speaking as well. Being a musician I understand that we all don't appreciate the same styles or methods of music. Share yours with her and let her make the choice. However, remember that you and her are going to reflect what you put into your minds. What I mean is if you put dark and heavy music into your mind it will begin to get into your spirit. Remember that what you put in you will get out. Music no matter harmless it may seem can have very dark consequences. I've seen and experienced this which is why I share this.
