yes it is normal, the majority of my cd collection is heavy metal (slayer, king diamond, etc.) but I do have a growing percentage of pop music (kelly clarkson, the go-go's, etc.).
I listen to the softer stuff when I am out on a date with a woman, or when I am writing or oil painting- sometimes just because that is what I want to listen to.
I predominantly identify myself as "heavy metal" but yes other genres have something to offer me as well.
so listen to what you like and don't worry about the "label" every form of music has something to offer.
toatlly normal! some people stick with just one type of music and thats ok, but I think the majority of people love all sorts. I know I do, I love kidney thieves, my ruin, slipknot, sex pistols, green day, amy whinehouse, kelly clarkson some dance songs and some are and b. it takes alll types, so like what you like, at least you get more fun from listening to music, and more vaiety

I just want to read some people's input on this. Is it strange or even possible to listen to very different types of music and feel everyone one of the songs? From hardcore underground hip hop like Immortal Technique to Abba for example. Around where I live, I don't think people listen to that much diversity in music because they generally talk the same, act the same, and dress the same. When I talk to people they usually have one type they listen to, and just a few songs from other genres. Does taking the music serious mean only listening to one type of music?
