This is a topic that comic nerds go simply gooey discussing, and while there's PLENTY of contention whenever anything involving comics are concerned, just about any top-10/top-20/top-100 list you find regarding the most powerful, the tops of the list tend to be remarkably similar.

Here are the three that I've noticed popping up most often --

#3 -- Superman --
Superman has gets a raw deal when it comes to the Most Powerful lists because he's only the most powerful on Earth, and as we all know, comic books are rarely limited to terra firma. Down here, Superman can't be harmed, has an array of powerful weapons at his disposal, and, well, flying is just cool. But put him up against some intergalactic bad guys on a plant without a yellow sun and he's just another guy in a cape.

#2 -- Silver Surfer --
When I was growing up, I thought SS was the single lamest character ever invented, a clear pander to the '60s surf craze that gave us Gidgit and the Beach Boys. But once you wrap your head around the fact that his powers are...well...utterly limitless, it's hard not to respect him, no matter how dorky one might look flying through space on a surfboard.

#1 -- Thor --
The Silver Surfer might have limitless power, but he's not a god. Thor doesn't get a lot of mention in pop culture like the "marketable" comic franchises of Batman and Spider-Man, but he's been around the block, and it's very hard to argue with the might of an immortal, indestructible, time-traveling, teleporting deity. Besides which, so far, SS and Thor have had fisticuffs twice, and both times, our Norse Lord has bested the Chrome Skateboarder. So give him and his hammer some propers.

Is Thor the best? Well, his fan base isn't as broad as, say, Hulk's or even the Human Torch's. But as far as raw power is concerned, I'm siding with the divinity.

That's a question with many answers. It could just be opinion, or you could go 'Top Trumps' stlyle and get your answer that way, but it all comes down to varying factors, such as:

Strength
Intelligence
Speed
Reflexes
Mood (yes, mood.)

and most importantly

Experience
~
External factors also have a part to play as well, such as:
Environment,
Terrain,
Climate,
Time
~

So, all in all, I think you'd all agree...

Kyle Rayner is by FAR the greatest.
