It's not uncommon for bruises to appear around piercings. The redness is also normal, especially after the first day. The bruising should go away rather quickly but the redness and some swelling will occur for a few days. Also, just for the future, don't get worried if your jewlery starts to get a crusty greenish-yellow material on it-- that too is normal and happens with any new piercing.
