Do Monroe piercings scar?

I want a Monroe piercing while I’m still young and frolicking around. Still, I would rather not be 50 with a facial piercing … If a Monroe piercing is taken out five or 10 years after it is done does it leave a big scar?

Or does it heal pretty well and unnoticeable.
Does anyone possibly have any photos of the scar left after a Monroe piercing has been taken out?

mine has scarred around the hole, it is red and a little raised, but it is still in the healing process, I just got it.I have not taken it out.

Answer #2

I know for a fact that yes they do scar. It leaves a little white circle scar indention. I have one but its not noticeable unless you’re up close

Answer #3

It doesn’t scar. And if it does, it is EXTREMELY unnoticeable. I promise. =]

I hate reading answers that have not given advice whatsoever.. However, I have to tell you that I think that those piercings are hot, and I’m so for them. Not to mention that you look like you could so pull it off. I’ve had plenty of piercings in my day, and all of them have a scar of some sort. My navel, though the ring’s been gone for two years now, can still wear a ring, and my tongue has a hole when I remove it. My boyfriend’s nose is still marked where he’d had it done for about a week. So no matter what you do, you’re going to have a scar. The question is whether or not it’s important enough to you to get one.

I have a monroe piercing, and I ended up taking it out after about 2 and a half years. I DO have a scar, but it is hardly noticable and really easy to hide with makeup. If it does get infected, it’s only because you didnt take care of it. plus their really cute.

Answer #7

after you take it out depending on how long it was in it may leve an indeation or mark

Answer #8

I had mine for six years with no infections- took it out and I will have a permanent scar. Had I known that 6 years ago, I would not have done it.

Answer #9

I got my monroe done 2 weeks ago. The night I got it done it swelled so much that when I woke up the ring was jammed in my lip. So then I went and had it redone on the other side and it has been fine. There is a small scar on the left but it is still healing and can’t be noticed with makeup over it. Make sure if you wear makeup do not get it in your new peircing that will infect it the quickest at least thats what the artist said.

Answer #10

I’ve actually heard that if it is an indented scar you can have a cosmetic filler injected into it by a good dermatologist and it will minimize the appearance. I think it’s pretty expensive, but if you really can’t deal with a little character added to your face, it’s an option. I have both sides done and I really like them so far. Ask for them to do it in an 18 gauge for a tinier scar, and don’t pick at the crust when they heal cause that’ll make it worse!!

Answer #13

I have a monroe peircing and I’v had it for about 10 months now. I really want to take it out because im so sick of it but im so scared that im gona have the hole forever. does anyone know how to get rid of the hole? I rather a scar then a hole on my face

Answer #14

mine scarred really badly but I had a horrible infection in it, so they all may not turn out that way

Answer #15

I have 9 piercings and a tattoo, including my monroe, and I noe that I enjoy my piercing right now, so I dont really care about if it scars or not. when im older ill be able to show my kids and/or grandkids and be able to say, “hey, you noe I used to be cool once.” and then show them my tattoos and piercing scars lol. but monroe piercings tend to not scar up too much, not very noticeable newaiz. but uhmm good luck with your monroe. I love mine and id advise nebody to get it done! but if your worried about scarring you can always get something more descreet such as a smiley, I have mine done and you cant see it so theres virtually never gunna be a scar :).

Answer #16

No not at all because I have one but if it does leave a scar just start rubbing coco butter on that spot after you take it out eventually then wait until it closes completely then start rubbing coco butter on it and within 2weeks or more you should start seeing results. I hope this helped!

Answer #17

except all of these are completly different than a monroe. your nose is cartilage, not skin. it will never heal. your belly button has a bigger gauge than a monroe does. monroes are in a place where there are very little nerves. when you decide to take it out, it should heal nicely and not leave a scar

Answer #18

Yes, it may leave a small scar once you take it out for good. How much of a scar is going to depend on how long you leave it in and how your body reacts to it.

Here are some thing to keep in mind to minimize the possibility of scarring:

  • have the piercing done by a professional - a novice may use inappropriate tools which can leave a large scar
  • keep the piercing and the jewelry clean. Use the products recommended by your piercer
  • do your best not to fiddle around with the stud as that can make the hole bigger, which can lead to scarring.
  • follow the aftercare sheet to the letter
  • take out the stud when participating in any sports and replace with a retainer. Any rip or tear can lead to scarring.
