Mixed signals? stuck in the friend zone?

For the past month I have been hanging out with my friend that I met in july through my cousin . I really like him, not based on his looks but the way that he is. He really is a great guy. He makes me laugh and I love talking to him. But iM confused...

sometimes I think he likes me other times I dont. then last night he invited me to go look for some directions since he is bad at directions so I gladly accepted. We just ended up cruising and talking. Somewhere along the conversation he said something that sounded like something I would say to someone if I liked them.
I just want to know if he does see me more than a friend or am I just stuck on the friend zone!?

what are some ways to know without being direct you know wht I mean?
I invited him to go watch a movie sometime later this week he said yes. so wht can I do to confirm that he does or he doesnt?
How do I let him know without being direct, ( idnt want to ruin something if he doesnt feel the same way)
