Could I be pregnant or having a miscarriage?

so I've been feeling like im gona start my peroid but all its doing is spotting and I have these severe cramps. I had this during my last peroid and I didnt hink much of it but its now worsened and I cant sleep. I am also on birth control. Could I be pregnant or am I having a miscariage??

Well when I had a miscariage I was asleep and started having bad bad bad cramps that woke me up and when I went to the rest room I knew I was having a miscariage because of the none stop flow of blood that was coming out.
