Mini-netbooks

Recently I've noticed a huge increase in the number of Netbooks for sale in shops for about £200-£300. I've done some reading and found out that these are in fact called mini-netbooks. But my question is:

such do they still allow you to enter bigger sites such as youtube? (without taking ages to load)

You know ones which can take time to load because of loads of videos.

Also is Linux good as an operating system?

I have a HP mini netbook...when im searching for something that takes a lot of memory usually the whole internet just shuts down then a message will pop up saying 'return to the previous screen' then it will take you back to the site. it gets really annoying after a while. and another downside is that you cant insert cd's or disks.
