How can i beat minesweeper?

I need some tips on how to beat minesweeper because it's kicking my butt like no joke.

first start out at a level you can beat, and get good at it. also remember that the numbers tells how many bombs it is touching. so if it is a one, that means it can only touch one bomb total. and so on up to eight.

OK THIS IS HOW... IF YOU WANT TO CHEAT THAT IS. OK FIRST OPEN MINESWEEPER. OK, THEN PUT YOUR MOUSE ON THE MINESWEEPER PAGE THEN TYPE IN XYZZY THEN PRESS SHIFT AND ENTER AT THE SAME TIME, RELEASE AND THEN HOLD DOWN SHIFT FOR APROXIMITLY 5 SEC. WHEN YOU RELEASE, LOOK AT THE TOP LEFT SIDE OF THE DESKTOP SCREEN, you SHOULD SEE A WHITE DOT AT THE TOP.(IF you HAVE A DARKER DESKTOP you COULD SEE IT BETTER) OK WHEN you MOVE YOU MOUSE OVER A SQUARE AND YOU CAN STILL SEE THE DOT... THAT MEANS IT IS SAFE. IF you CANT IT IS A BOMB GET IT? WELL IF you DONT CHECK OUT YOU TUBE THE EXPLAIN IT BETTER SO WELL SEE YA!!

I googled and found there are ways to cheat, but I want to win fairly. The best I've dobne is 1 mine left in 8 minutes. The only way I would say to win is to go slowly, methodically(obviously, right :-) and try different scanning methods, I.e. do all the 1's first, then 2's, etc... and then go back to the newly opened areas of 1's, 2's, etc... Good luck!! I need some too. It's an addicting ganme for certain. :-)

hmm... I find it hard enough getting a game started because 50 percent of the time I cant get a patch of squares open on expert- then once I do- I get a ways into processing the edges of the cleared zone and then most of the cleared zones edges become flat and it becomes impossible to read the numbers (what im saying is USE CORNERS AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE)thats what works for me
