Milk drinking puppy

My dog had puppies and we only kept one of them. Her name is coco and she wont stop drinking her mothers milk and we cant get her fixed until the milk is gone. We tried seperating them but once that happens coco wont stop crying, its really annoying. Will my dog get sick? What should I do?

How old is this puppy? Just let them be. nature will take care of things.

You should ask your vet. Because they're professionals and they should know more then we do.

Vets don't know any more then we do. Mothers milk is good for a puppy, just like mother's milk is good for a baby. Di d you give all the other puppies away?

I'm surprised that mama still lets her...those puppy teeth are like needles...Are you supplimenting the pup with puppy chow??

You also didn't say how OLD this puppy is...8 weeks...12 weeks?? WHAT???

Same here how old is the puppy? Dogs know how and when to wean their pups. When you have one puppy left after the rest of the litter is gone, the Mom will sometimes let that puppy nurse a little it is just an affection thing.

Your pup should not be spayed or neutered until 6 months. I don't think your pup is that old yet because I have never seen a Mother dog let her pup nurse to that age.

Stop trying to control the situation and let nature take it's course. Also do not punish the Mom or pup for nursing.

Be sure you are feeding a good puppy kibble. Mom can eat the puppy kibble for a little while too, it won't hurt anything until she is totally out of milk.

I start feeding my pups a ground up wet mash when they are about 3 to 4 weeks old along with Mom nursing. This is when the teeth come in and Mom is wanting out of the puppy box more. About 3 times a day.

We really need to know what kind of dog this is and how old BUT it would not matter as far as weaning if you are keeping it. Let Mom and pup work it out.

How often does it nurse? What do you mean will your dog get sick? Are you talking about mastitis? Meaning engorged with milk? She really shouldn't .

What food are you feeding? I am wondering about that? I think I would call the Vet's? I am not sure what to do. My females walk away dragging the puppy off when it tries to nurse after she wants to wean it. I still think this will pass.

If you just call your Vet's office many times they will give you information over the phone on how to handle this. Actually this is a situation that they will probably do just that.
