how come my boyfriend expects me to go down on him all the time, but he never mentioned eating me out?

That sounds a bit selfish of him, or maybe he was so caught up in his own pleasure that he didn't think of returning the favor. Either way, try hinting at it if you don't want to ask directly... Like when he asks you to go down on him, say 'You first' or 'Your turn this time', something like that. Or just talk to him.
