Me, my friend , and her boy toy

k well I have a senario. I have a best friend we will call her (a) and she has a boy friend we will call him (b).

k I got back for BC and I go tto see her once. a bunch of us made plans to go to the fair. im on a volleyball team and we practice 9 am till 4 pm mon-fri. so we were going to go saturday. she calls me and tells me that (b) wants her to go to edmontom for the weekend so she blew me off and she has seen him everyday and I saw her once in 3 weeks. she knows im mad but when she wants to hang out with me her boyfriend gets mad then they fight. she is like cutting me out of her life for her boyfriend who thinks she is constantly cheating on him when she isnt. whats wrong here? howan I get her to understand that she cant ditch me for some guy

I totally understand where you are coming from, I had this exact situation happen to me. Unfortunately, this isn't something that just happens when you are in your teens. It happens throughout life. I guess for some people it is really hard to balance friendships and relationships.
Like I said, this exact situation happened to be, very recently. My best friend had been with her boyfriend for 5 years. They broke up and he was being TERRIBLE to her and of course...who do our friends go to when they get into fights with there boyfriend's?? US. and of course because we are their friends we are always there for them. However, a few months later they got back together, and this friend of mine disappeared...and started blowing off plans or leaving something that we were doing in the middle of what we were doing when her boyfriend would call...and it was pretty hurtful I felt..because I mean there should be time for friends and boyfriends. I wanted to say something to her but I didnt want to fight and lose her as a friend...
eventually I got really annoyed with it...so I figured id say something because it was getting to the point where what kind of friendship was it...so I talked to her and I explained how I felt,,,that I understood she was in love and wanted to see her boyfriend and everything but that I thought we were friends and I felt that she was kind of neglecting our friendship and it was hurtful...
she felt really bad and didnt even realize she was doing it or making me feel that way,,and said that she wouldnt do it again,.
Id talk to your friend..she might not even realize what she is going...
and if she continues to do it after you talk...then your friendship isnt what you thought..and although it really hurts..at least you know what kind of friend or not friend she is..

Well, sometimes the only way for girls (or boys) to learn that they can't ditch their friends for the one they're in 'love' with is to have their friends not be there for them. Not that you should do that, but she probably is not trying to pick him over you, she probably just doesn't realize that it's hurting you. Talk to her, tell her how you feel. Teenagers always think that their boyfriends will be around forever. Normally not true, but your friends normally are. The only way for her to learn this is time. Start making plans with other friends, don't just sit around waiting for her. Have a good time and enjoy your life, eventually she'll come back and realize what she did wrong, and like a good friend you'll forgive her. Then all will be right in your world again.
