Here's how it works: liberal talk show hosts and members of the media paint the Republican candidate as a warmonger, while conservative talk show hosts and media members paint the Democratic candidate as a yellow-bellied retreatist. It's happened in almost every election I can think of. Obama has set a deadline with a plan to withdraw most US forces, does that mean he wants to cut and run, waving the white flag? No, but that's what several conservatives are saying his plan adds up to.

McCain's position on the Iraq war does not make him a warmonger, and several of his quotes about that war and others have been taken out of context. Inheriting the Iraq war will not be an easy thing for any president to go through, and I certainly don't think McCain's experience as a POW in Vietnam has made him bloodthirsty.

There are plenty of good reasons not to vote for McCain. Painting him as a warmonger is not necessary.

I will be voting for mccain, and I say HELL YES to the war on terrorism,a and the stabilization of iraq. I believe that things will be far worse with obama in the drivers seat- so mccain has got my full support.

if being a veteran of the viet nam war era makes him a war monger- then ...
truth is he is a veteran, he was captured by the vietnamese and imprisoned by them for many years, he has been subjected to lots of different tortures- the man survived with his mind intact.
that tells me that he is a very strong willed individual.
I support his race for the white house- I believe he will be a great president, and maintain our tough stance against terrorism.

those who have fought know first hand how horrible war is and do not take either entering into a war or staying in a war lightly. I do not believe mccain is a warmonger. I think he is a former soldier who knows quite well the horrors of war and wants to do what he believes is correct for the soldiers and this country.

get this clear, I do not support mccain. but I agree with mjax1979, there are MANY other good reasons not to vote for mccain. this war is being dumped in the lap of the next president.
and for that, we can blame the current administration.

It doesn't really matter who get's in office as far as the war goes, we won't be able to just stop the war. There is billions of dollars worth of equipment on the ground over there that will take years to pack up and bring home. We aren't leaving anytime soon and people just need to realize that. Infact, I believe that we will be there and establish actual duty stations there once the war has calmed down and instead of it being a deployment it will be a hardship tour.

Old Man McCoot is definately a warmonger. The war on terror is a myth that he is more than willing to perpetuate. And he is all for starting a new war in Iran. He even sings about it to the Beach Boys song Barbara Ann: Bomb, bomb, bomb... bomb bomb Iran.

He is a disgrace to the uniform he once wore. Yes he went through something that I wouldn't wish on anyone. But that is irrelevant to his stance on war and soldiers he has now. He could give a rats a$$ about them. He doesn't support the vets returning home. He has constantly voted against expanding benefits for them.

No, you see, what people fail to understand is the fact that no president has the power to make the decision to end a war or not. And he never said that he wanted the war to go on for 10 more years, he said that he predicts it will be over by 2012 which is in 4 years, but no one knows if that will happen. If we end the war now, they (meaning terrorists) will just attack us again because they think they can just walk all over us, and you know what will happen then?
Another war.
