Can anyone help me with this algebra question?

Hey, I'm having trouble with understanding this math problem, 3x ( x + 4 ) = 0, could you please help me, and explain how you got the answer I've looked through notes but no luck.

This isn't homework either.. If you read further down in reply to filletofspam you will know this. But incase you don't read I am studying for an exam and im not at school because of study leave and that is why I am asking this question in the first place ok.

Filletofspam: It's not a homework question, I'm studying for an exam and looking through past papers and I didn't know how to go about it. And I don't understand you?

Lela: The directions just told me to : 'Solve the equatiom' lol if that what you meant. I looked through my 'distributive property' notes and it didnt have a similar question so I didn't know where to begin I'd practice doing it but the answer came out all wrong! Unless I was looking at the wrong notes? lol

eish honey I suck at algebra but I think you must replace the x es to get the anser.

ok what you have to do is distribute the 3x to each term inside the parentheses. so you would get:

Well what is your goal? Is it to simplify, to solve for x, to substitute, to graph, it all matters! I love math too! Go 7th grade Algebra!
