Not knowing your budget... You could hire a limo..if you do this go to a restaurant first to meet all of the people that will be there. Then when you guys walk out, he will walk out to his limo, you all will have eaten so make sure you time the limo to be there at the end of eating. This will save you hours on the rental. You can all go bar hopping or whatever you guys want. Have fun!! You sound like a cool wife.

Hi.
I gave my husband a 50th birthday party with friends and family. My theme was set from his birth to his teen yrs-1957/70s.
It was a costume party...ppl came in funny outfits...from hippies.. the Globe Trotters, surfers, Rock n rollers, Beatniks etc. We had a DJ , Karaoke, dancing, and then...
I had a poetry reading ( I told everyone in their invitations to write a poem that they would recite to the b-day boy )I had a stool with a spot light shinning on the reader, and a mic to speak into. I had one person tap on the bongos and told everyone during and afrer the reading say things like: 'ohh.. that was heavy man'...'I felt that one ..'Groovy dude'...This brought the feeling of a true poetry reading to life.
'The poems were hilarious from everyone. The birthday boy was so surprised...he had no idea what was up...but laughed his butt off listening to everyone's creative poetry.
I saved all the written poems to remember our great memories of the party.. plus he opened all his presents too! The cake I had created was a 3 piece beatnik band and one of the faces on the beatnik was the b-day boys face and one other one was me...ppl thought it was sooo cute. (my husband is a musician)he loved it.
I hope this helped you figure out a prefect party for your husband.
Remember think of his age, things he likes, and things you always said you wouldnt do but he said you better never to that ! ha ..ha...thats when its awesome. Be creative and do something you wouldnt do normally...then its truely a surprise and out of character for you both...From Miss Creative in Sarasota FL
