Making your baby,

Piper Asked by harleyrider 10 months ago, 12 answers.

So how do you feel about making your own baby and knowing right down to the T what color eyes it will have and what genes it will carry and picking what sex you want it to be. Right or wrong? Messing with nature or increasing our scientific knowledge?
your...

thoughts?

I dont think it's right at all - reminds me of Nazi's and wanting blue eyed blonde people everywhere.

I dont think that a couple should be picking what they want and how they want it too look - to me that says that they would not be happy with whatever child they have and if that's the case they should not be having children. You are supposed to love your child - regardless, not pick out it's eye color and gender before birth.

its great and all... but why bother to mess with it all? a person should be happy with the child they get, even if his eyes arent like yours, or its a boy instead of a girl...

theres something interesting not knowing how your child will look, who its gonna be most like, what color its eyes are...

why spoil the excitement?

I would stick with what God chose rather than go designer baby but personal choice.

what if you can keep your own child from being born with one arm, or Down syndrome, or slow at motor skills, others to list, but I think you get my point,
Would you mess with nature then?

I say if you wanna choose go for it. To each his own. I personaly probably wouldn't, but if someone else wants to I wouldn't look down on them. I feel about this the same as I do abortion kinda. I'm pro choice do what you wanna do even if it's not something I'd do!

I want him/her to have a good life without bullying or hardships...

If there was a way to stop my child from having down syndrome or some other life changing disease - yes I would get it done. If there was a good reason for doing so - I would. Not just because I wanted him to have blue eyes though.

I'll have to watch that. I know I've read about it and it shocked the hell out of me when I saw it. Again it just reminds me of hitler's ideas - controlling the population and what it looks like.

The news is going to be about selecting your embryo knowing what genes you can select and disreguard based on if they can carry something like Cancer. You are still picking and choosing. I will post more if I have the chance to watch it. going to make super.

wrong
the world doesnt need to be filled with people who all look the same
or people who have been modified since birth to look a certain way
that takes out the diversity and individuality of people
if there not born as who they are there not naturl
there made up
which is fine if you want to be a model or some crap that requires people to look a certain way
but very few people do, and I beleive it would just make people wonder what they would have looked like if they developed naturally
I think the idea alone is just disgusting and horrible
its enough of a materialistic world alreday
we dont need to modify our children

I think the one above me summed up something I've been thinking about this: The kid would always wonder who they were really ment to be. I know I would. What a horrible thing to do on purpose, to tae away free, well I was gonna say free will, which isn't right, but I'm sure you get my drift..
