who else thinks people say "I love you'' too much?

Who else thinks that people say 'I Love You'' Too much to their partner? I've seen couples say I love you and then split up. Love is such a strong emotion, I think it's used too lightly. Anyone else share this opinion?

you're right.
I only say it when I truly mean it.

my fiance feels the same way about it too.
I said it when I knew for sure I felt it.
he didn't reply it...I wouldn't want him to if he didn't mean it.
which is one of the reasons why I know when he did 1st say it to me he really ment it and it was so much more special.
of ocurse we tell each other, but not too often.
cause sometimes it can lose it's meaning.

I guess people typically say it when they think the other person wants to hear it, not when they feel they need to say it.

I agree to a certain point, but there is something important that you're missing.

Love is not an emotion. It is an act of the will; it's a decision. A person who loves desires the highest and best goods for the sake of the beloved. It's more than just warm fuzzy feelings.

Do we use it too often? I think its more accurate to say that we don't understand it enough in the first place to say it. In other words, we misuse it rather than overuse it. The term 'being in love' does not refer to authentic love, but to a mixture of fear, hormones, and other things that make a person 'feel' a certain way.

The best definitions I have heard for love come from St. Paul (1 Corinthians 13), William Shakespeare (Sonnet 116), and C.S. Lewis ('Mere Christianity' and 'the Screwtape Letters')

Yes but they really dont know what Love is most of the timethats why there are so many people broken Up and still cant find their one true love because we all cant find it easy as other people do

Yeah, people say it to much. But some of them really are in love. People just hear others saying it so they say it to be like just like everyone else. Most people don't know what love is. Me and my boyfriend are in love, even my mom and his mom say so. You will know when your in love.
