I know you said you wouldnt listen, so Im not going to say dont do it. Its your body, but what I will do is give you facts. It is true you will lose weight if you fast for one week, you could loose 4-5 lbs by doing this or maybe even more, and I will also tell you, once you begin to eat normal again the weight will go back on. Its called yo-yo dieting and some people get so frustrated with this that they relate to drastic measures such as 'fasting'
Just to let you know if you started excersing and dieting you will also loose the 4-10 lbs your first week and be much healthier. If you go through with the fast make sure you start excersing after ward to keep the weight off! Good luck!
Fasting isn't effective period. You'll gain double the weight back because you're body gets used to the fasting and taking everything it can from what little it gets. Then when you eat normal again your body will still try to take everything it can get until it can adjust itself again.
You should eat right and exercise. It's the only way to get fit and STAY fit.
Try the Abs Diet and read some Women's Health Magazines.
What she said.
Fasting isn't going to get those 4 or 5 pounds off in a week. Fasting is actually the slowest and most painful way to lose weight. Think back to a time when you've felt really hungy; now imagine living with that for 7 days constantly. It's not healthy either. When you stop eating for a long period of time your body goes into a sort of survival mode. It'll digest itself, breaking down muscle and fat. You'll feel irritable and confused and you'll feel fatigued and won't be able to concentrate. When you lose weight this way, your body slows down your metabolism to conserve energy. And since you've lost muscle, you won't move as much and in turn stop burning calories causing your body to adjust to taking in a lesser amount of them.
Your body is smart. So when you start eating again, it will cling onto everything and store it in an attempt to rebuild itself. Remember, you've adjusted your calories to a lower level, so these excess calories are being stored as pure FAT. That means you gain all of the weight you lost, and then some. It's just not a healthy thing to do and you will get NO benefit from it. Your body only goes into starvation mode to survive, not because you want to lose weight.
If you want to lose weight, do what sikashimmer suggested. Dieting and women's health mags are good. Exercising regularly and drinking a lot of water is also vital. When working out, don't overlook weightlifting. What it does is add muscle to your body and the more muscle you have, the more calories you burn. Every pound of muscle added increases your metabolism by 3% I believe. It's the same reason football players and wrestlers can eat so much; they're basically all muscle. Reading those women's magazines should be able to give you effective ways to weight lift and add muscle without getting that body builder muscle bulge.
Good luck =]
I guess no one noticed when I said I used to do this all the time... I haven't gained a single pound back from when I used to do it so why would I this time? You can't start eating properly again after you fast, that's why people do gain weight. You have to gradually put yourself back onto solid food. The only reason I stopped seven months was because I decided to try it for two weeks and I got caught when I lost too much weight by my sister. She lives in the same apartment building as me and noticed that I had a lack of energy. I'd never done it for that long before, it's usually seven days at the most and then I live off fruits and vegetables until I slowly go back to normal food and I haven't gained a single pound back yet.
I just have never done it with chicken broth so I wanted to know if it would effect it. I do know the health risks of it all. I've been like this since I was thirteen until I got depressed when I was fifteen and gained forty pounds when I lived off junk food. I've finally lost that weight and my biggest fear is being fat ever again and I don't care what it takes to get to my goal weight as long as I get there. I know everything fasting can do to you.
Thanks for your concern though, but I'd rather just know what I wanted to know not what I know.
Well, we just figured if you'd fasted before and you were still doing it that you may not have caught on to the fact that it's dangerous. On this site, we're not supposed to give you adivice that could encourage or aid you in a process that can harm you. Fasting is one of those things. You're lucky that one of the admins haven't locked or deleted this question yet.
Your body is also changing. What you've done in the past may not work anymore.
We're discouraging you because it's dangerous and unhealthy.
The only way to get fit and STAY fit is to get on a sensible diet and exercise plan.
With fasting and fad diets, you're weight is just going to yo-yo.
If you're looking to lose quick weight, eat nothing but lean protein. Don't do it long term though.
All right, I understand. Honestly, if I saw this question I would advise someone against it. I just woke up when I saw the answers anyway. I don't understand it, I used to be good at losing weight just by eating properly and exercising but it stopped just as fast as it started. When I started losing weight a year ago that was when I was exercising and everything and ti came off quick and then it stopped completely over a month time. I still wasn't fit. I'm not overweight anymore like I was but I'm not skinny like I was before I got depressed. I just want all the fat gone. I did do exercise the past seven months and followed a diet plan but it didn't do anything at all. I got muscle but the fast stayed too...
Everytime I have an event coming up and I want to shed a few lbs. to fit into the little black dress I eat nothing but protein. NO CARBS AT ALL. At least every 3 hours. It works wonders for me. I have a friend who suffers from obesity and I put her to the test. Within 3 days she lost 5 lbs. The bigger you are the quicker and the more weight you'll lose. It's not meant to be done on a long term basis. You can gradually increase good carbs into your diet. Your body needs other nutrients not found in protein. Another way to do it if you can't live without carbs, add protein to everything you eat. Try to have more protein than carbs. For example: If you eat a serving of cereal and milk in the morning, follow it with 2 or 3 egg whites (hard boiled eggs/eat only the whites. If you have a serving of fruit, combine it with a piece of cheese and so forth.
You may not want to hear it, but thge truth of the matter is the weight you want to lose is not possible, you can lose weight fast, but it won't stay off as you know, by now. If you lose 2-3 lbs a wk., your more likely to keep it off. Just keep to a healthy low fat, sodium, sugar, low calorie diet, cut out white flour products, add wheat or whole grain, cereal, breads, pasta, rice, cut out pre sweetened drinks or anything with high fructose corn syrup, like soda, drink lots of water, Lean meats, 3 oz. of skinless chicken, turkey breast , loin type meat or fish, snack on seeds or nuts in small quantities. It will work if you reduce portions and exercise 4-5 times a week.
I guess that explains why I lost the weight so fast because I used to 170 and when I started this and exercising the weight came off so quickly. I am not at 130 and it hasn't budged for six months.
Actually it has stayed off for me. I haven't gained anything back that I lost, it just won't go anywhere at all now.
Try the Master Cleanse, I lost 8 pounds in one week. It's been a month since I have been off of it, and I have lost 3 more pounds by just eating healthy. So a total of 11 pounds and 8 of them came off by the Master Cleanse. Stay away from salt, sugar, high carbs and you'll lose. I am a huge advocate of fasting, it's good for your mind, gets you motivated about life too. Just make sure you drink plenty of water.
Also, the Master Cleanse wants you to do the salt flush, don't do it. its not good for you. I just did the lemonade mixuture and smooth move tea. I feel the best I have felt in a long time. Also I added to my diet, Perfect foods, its all your greens blend with juice and 1 tbs. of flax seed oil and it does wonders for your body and skin. Good luck!
I also have done the high protein diet too and it does work but it messes my stomach up too so I can't stick to the high-protein..won't go into detail but the fasting and eating organic foods along with nuts, and more of a raw food type diet seems to be what has helped me to get rid of stubborn fat. I am 5'4 and was up at 135, now I am around 123 pds. I am a curvy girl, I wear a size 4 but still have a butt and boobs but I still am trying to lose another 5 pounds. You can google the 'master cleanse'...I also was having gum issues and I no longer have them because the fasting cleared it all up as it is known to help eliminate illnesses, amongst other things. One of my friends is nutritionist and she swears by fasting but you have to do it right or it messes your body up so make sure you research it before you jump in and go for it. I also have another friend who had cancer and did all of this, she is in remission still and doing great so there is something to be said about fasting and eating healthy. I am just excited because I finally found what works for me. Good luck to all of you.

I don't know how many cal's etc are in chicken broth, but it can't be lots.
I reckon you'll just lose a little slower.
that's only a guess, I'm not sure.
you're so lucky you haven't gained any weight.
good luck.
so is fasting good or not? im trying to lose 20 pounds too
Over a year ago I went on a 21-day juice fast and I lost 15 pounds. I did extensive research before I did this!!! After the fast, I adapted a pesco-vegetarian diet and added light excercise. Because of this, the weight never came back. I look and feel great! The fast took the weight off, my new lifestyle has kept it off.
Fasting takes major determination. Please be smart about it - do research first! There are tons of resources on the internet about it - read about it before you do it. How you start and end the fast are just as important as the fast itself. Juice fasting is much healthier and easier than other types of fasting. Remember, if you don't change your eating habits after the fast, you will gain the weight back. Fasting more than once a year or for more than 30 days is extremely unhealthy.
honey, this is my sh*t... I know everyone is preachin healthy choices, and I wont tell you fasting is right or wrong. I have went through everything you possible could with body and wanting to look like this or do this by that time. This is what I do when I want to lose weight fast... for example... halloween, or sudden swimwear events. You got a week... first of all take 2 vitamins daily, a multi and a calcium. I do a sugar free jello diet. I usually make three boxes the night before, and eat throughout day. first, keeps you hydrated, 2nd feeling full, and great flavor. and then your three meals through out the day to keep your metabolism up somewhat for the week, has to be 200-300 calories each. I like to do something like a half a bagel, can of fruit, can of tuna/salmon (great for complexion), can of unsalted vegetables, or light yogurt. NO CARBONATED DRINKS, even if they are diet. I usually workout a little, 20-30 minutes of cardio, not too much, because you will get hungry and eat up evrything. but yea... try this and let me know what you think
if you could wait a a few days to a week before losing any weight then try this:after 6 or 7 pm eat only vegetables and fruits, the food you eat during the day eat small portions but not 2 or 3 times a day but like 4-5 times a day, within the first few days to a week you won't see any difference but afterwards you lose weight really nicely about its prob different for everyone but I lost about 5-6 pounds within the second week.when I stopped doing that the weight never came back which is really awsome, but I still want to lose some more but just like you its hard for me to get back on track..lol..well good luck!p.s.this is also really healthy actually..:D..p.p.s.and I didnt do any exercise nor did I stop myself from eating chocolate or any other sweets which I love..:D
WOW!!!I just realized you posted your question 6 months...wow...heheh..lol...answers are a lil to late huh?lol
chicken broth-I hope that is normal chicken soup in the packet hehe.if it is n0pe it w0nt mess up y0ur diet.it aint fattening.im g0ing t0 try the jelly diet.I've got tons of sour jelly in the cupboard.good luck.
Some people are getting fasting mixed up. Fasting really doesn't have to do with losing weight . I'm a christian to tell you the truth fasting is in the bible it's used in a way to get closer to God. If you have any problems in your life just fast a pray about it an the Lord will fix them. I fast an pray , not only do I lose weight, but I have a closer realationship with God. An I really feels good. I have good things thats happening in my life because I pray an fast.
.some one tell me how 2 fast...
Are you trying to just trying lose weight? I do it in a spiritual way. I fast from 12 midnight to 12 noon the next day or it's up to you, You can go longer my husband fast from 12 midnight to 7 pm an eat 1 time a day while we're on the fast we pray. So you win both ways spiritual an natural.
To answer the orignial question, the brooth will not harm your dieting. I have been the same weight for about 5 years now (215-220), and I have only gotten taller and stronger. I do not have a six pack, but I have amazingly strong abs, arms, legs, etc... My secret is that I play hockey (as a goalie). It works every aspect of the human body, including intense cardio.
The essentials of a great 'diet' is starting off right, not just on Day 1, but every morning. I start almost every day with an 8 oz yogurt, 8 oz Orange juice (also apple, and fruit juices depending), and some fruit. This way, my body can adjust iteslf, namely my stomach which will be digesting all the food I eat all day.
Later on, before lunch, I got for a little carbs in a bagel, toast, croissant. For lunch, I am steadfast on soup (or broth). There is nothing better to eat when you want to lose weight, other than soup. Stay away from cream soups (any that require cream/milk), cause they bloat your stomach. Chicken Noodle is an amazing filler. Soup is very easy for your body to digest, and it fills you up just as water does, but does not leave the excess gunk (complex food particles) in you stomach.
One last note, when my finals come up for hockey, I always lose 20 pounds in two weeks EASILY, by starting the day with a banana, apple, and lots of juice and water. Throughtout the day, I only eat fruits, yogurt, juice, and water--and stick to them. I do many, many sets of few repetitions all throughtout the days of weights, and cardio. That way, I don't get tired, and I can do a lot more in the end on a consistant level, than just over-working myself, and stressing my body.
tell me what do do I need to get rid of ten pounds in a week
Try Cylaris. It is a weight loss formula, which Im sure many of you have heard of. Now, I didnt think it would work, but I have been so desperate to lose 20 or 30 pounds. I only take two pills a day, exercise atleast 3 times a week and eat a little healthy. I started taking them in the beginning of March... I was 150lbs. On March 12th, I weighed myself and I was 147lbs... so at first I only lost 3lbs in almost 2 weeks, but then it started kicking it. I weighed myself on March 18th and weighed 143lbs, so I had lost 4 pounds in that one week... I just weighed myself yesterday (March 26th) and I weigh 139lbs!!! Another 4 pounds in about a week. At first the pills made me jittery.. just a little bit, but that went away after the second day
some people will have different side affects of course, but one thing is for sure it gives me energy. Not feeling high or sketchy at all... just a little more awake during the day, which is great because then I feel motivated to exercise. Just dont forget to drink lots of water through out the day and add in a couple days of exercising. I just exercise in my living room... basic work outs, they are fun lol. Hope this helped
Good luck!

How can I lose four or five pounds this week?
Send me Fun Mail
I want to lose four or five pounds this week by going on a one week fast but I was wondering if it would still be effective if I drink chicken broth.
I use to fast all the time and lost the weight and haven't gained anything back yet but I am still about 15 pounds from my goal weight but the problem is I don't have the same will power that I used to have six/seven months ago when I first started losing the weight. I might not even lose as much weight as five pounds, but fasts always help me get back on track to my diet when it's successful. So will chicken broth ruin it?
By the way, I'm not going to listen of someone tells me not to do it and everything. I just want peoples opinions on the amount of weight I'll lose. The most I've lost on a week fast is ten pounds but I don't want to lose that much because I'll get caught again.
