Logitech mx 1000 mouse is acting up & not responding, ideas?

I have had the same computer mouse for about a year now, it's a logitech MX 1000. At the time, I thought it was the best & most days still think that. However, about once a week for a few minutes, the mouse now acts up & either won't respond OR will stop working altogether. The only way I've been able to get it working again is to reset the mouse & hang it on the charger again. The battery indicator says it's charged, and my windows xp machine is up to date. Is it time for a new mouse, or could the clutter on my desk be the culprit?

Hi kareem!

It could be the clutter, or it could be the surface you're using your mouse on. Because your mouse is more sensitive, if you are on a shiny surface, it confuses the mouse sensor and causes the pointer to move in random directions. If you are having problems with a shiny surface for your mouse (try not to use a glass table either), try just slapping a magazine down under it.

Also, I did some research and found that there is a lot of problems with this specific model. There' s a class-action lawsuit against Logitech, saying that the mouse is inherently defective and causes the cursor to "jump" randomly. To sign up for the lawsuit and possibly collect, go here:

Good luck!
