Limewire explanation?

I don't know anything about LimeWire,can you give me a basic explanation?

its a program where you can download music but I think its illegal and someone told me that they(I guess the police) can track your I.P address and come and arrest you so...yea

Limewire is what is known as a Peer 2 Peer file sharing program - basically it allows you to download files (any kind of file) from one person's computer to your own. Limewire itself is not illegal, but using it to download copyrighted material is (such as music, or movies). When you install Limewire you agree to the Terms and Conditions of use, one of which is that you will not use it to perform any illegal activities. So if you are caught downloading copyrighted music or movies, you can get in big trouble. And it is Limewire's ability to download any kind of file which allows some people to accidentally download viruses.

The Police can't rack your IP address through it - instead it is the Music and Movie industries which are the ones trying to catch you on Limewire, by planting programs that look like music, but instead send your details back to them so they can go to the Police and tell them you are stealing stuff.

If you use Limewire for copyrighted content, it is at your own risk.

yeah but if its used for music downloads its ilegal because iTunes costs money so limewire is illegal all together

Illegal Downloads. And dont purchase the Pro, that does not mean that it isnt illegal. It just means that your paying for a better version of limewire. a lot of people dont understand that.
