Laptop battery

My dell inspiron tm6400 battery used to last 3 hrs and all of a sudden it is only lasting about 1.5 hrs what can cause this

I dont think there's much you can do... batteries get worn out and they dont work as long... at least that has been my experience...

if you go to control panel, you can change the settings on your computer to lower the battery use make it last longer, its just like power saver on a cell phone.

Laptop batteries experience what is called memory problems meaning that if they are not 100% discharged and then 100% recharged after, they will start to remember to what capacity they are being recharged at and will loose a portion of their energy capacity. Scientists do not even know what causes this.
