I am wondering what the lifespan for this kind of dog? I have had mine for 2 1/2 years. I love my Sammy girl . Do they always follow you to every place you go?

Hi,

I think you mean Lhasa. Lhasa Apsos tend to have a very long lifespan of 15-18 years. The oldest living dog in history was a Lhasa, documented 29 years of age in 1939.

Since (I believe) mutts are often healthier than purebreds, you can expect to have Sammy around for quite awhile!

Lhasa Apso:
About 15 or more years. This breed is very long-lived. Some dogs live up to 18 or more years.

Shih-Tzu:
About 15 years or more.

I would say anywhere drom 9-15 years is a safe bet. Some pass sooner the others and it depends on health, treatment, and genetic disposition. YOu can lose a dog at 3, and one at 19, same breed same litter. THere are way too many variables at work when trying to predict lifespan
