You can't get pregnant while on your period because you are past your ovulation period.

There is only a three to four day period (no pun intended) that a woman can actually become pregnant. Generally, it is two weeks before it is due. Although sperm can live in the vaginal canal for up to five days, that is not a long enough life to last until your possible days to get pregnant. Also, the bleeding would most likely flush the sperm out. To address the latter part of your question, even if pregnant, you could still have a period, but it would manifest itself is spotting, it would be generally irregular, and it would not last through the duration of your normal period.
