Where can a felon work?

Asked by bailey1978 5 months ago, 3 answers.

Where can a person that has three felonies (burglary) find a job in columbus ohio? I have already tried the list that the probation officer gives out and no one on there seems to want to give me a chance. I have heard that restaurants will hire me but is that true? Also heard that UPS does not do backgroud checks, is that true? I have an associates in CAD design and cant seem to get past my record. Does anyone that is a felony have an idea?

Hi -

I would suggest visiting a few employment agencies. Most specialize in temp, temp to perm, or permanent placement work. I would explain your situation and indicate that you are in search of a position in which the employer does not perform background checks. Temp agencies will also look for work for you - at no cost to you. The employer pays the agency once you are hired. Even if you are placed on different assignments, you are obtaining work experience. I would then follow up with each agency once per week. It's always good to work with three or four temp agencies. You'll have more people working for you to place you in a position!! I understand that it can become frustrating - so hang in there. Look in your yellow pages under temp or employment agencies. Good luck!

Going to be tough as you have seen already. Start your own company. A friend like yourself found it to be tough, now has the rights to contracts in Orlando pouring concrete sidewalks. You won't have to explain to people that mistake in your past over and over. Hard work opens doors. Try Landscaping, very profitable and opens other doors quickly.

Best of luck.

I'm wondering that too. I have one 5th degree and it was five years ago. Is this going to be tough?
