How many people on this webiste no longer have jobs due to the recession (or another reason)?

And how is your job search going?

my dad lost his job last week. he was a foreman for a construction company and they did away with that position because it was too expensive to pay them (they also paid for their gas and trucks). because not much is going on by way of construction around where I live, they had to cut back on employees and they decided they'd cut the guys they paid salary to. he's going back into subcontracting, but that's not promising because he isn't guaranteed a paycheck every week. that's why it's a good thing for people going into the workforce to get stable jobs that will always be needed like doctors.

I really feel for anyone whose job is lost because of hard economic times. My family came to this country in the midst of a recession in 1987 and it wasn't easy for my father to get hired.

That being said, here's an interesting link to some jobs that tend to do well or even thrive during a recession
