if it hurts that bad you should go to the doctor to see what is wrong and to make sure it won't happen again
It could be TMJ.
Have you ever had braces?
I never experienced this until I got braces and a few years after I got them off I started noticing that it would pop in and out especially if I was chewing candy that was really chewy like a starburst or something. sometimes it would stay locked for hours..I couldnt open my mouth and then once the muscle relaxed it went back into place.
I'd mention it to the dentist next time you go for a cleaning or regular check up.
This can happen with jaw overuse - especially if you chew gum. It wouldn't hurt to see a doctor, but if you lay off excessive chewing and talking for a couple of days, you'll probably be fine.
you probably have tmj. I have an issue to where if I eat gum or anything my jaw gets stuck. you go to the dentist and they'll refer you to a specialist. yes it can be extremely painful. I have a brace on my teeth it's kinda like a retainer. it helps my jaw keep from sticking
I get this...it constantly cracks when I open my mouth and makes this horrible noise. Its locked before and stayed locked for the wholeday, I couldnt speak much and had to go to shool still lol.
Sometimes it hurts the hole side of ya mouth...its not good...
dunno wht it could be though.
Maybe go to the dentist

Jaw lockup
My jaw is constantly popping when I chew food or somthing, doesn't really bother me earlier today I was chewing gum and It made this huge Craking Noise like I broke it, It sounded awful, I didn't feel too much pain though. I went to tell a teacher, and it unpopped. THAT HURT!!! Should I go to a doctor? What kind of doctor do you go for this anyway?
