What can a vegetarian eat in japan?

... Asked by chewie13 about 1 year ago, 4 answers.

I'm going to Japan over the Summer and I'm a vegetarian. I don't eat fish either but I'm NOT a vegan. What types of foods can I eat?

The Japanese diet is very close to being vegetarian, so you'll have no problem whatever.

I have a friend who went to Japan while he was a vegetarian. I can ask him specifics for you, but I'd recommend rice and vegetables!

Definitely. I just came back from Japan and they make the best soba and ramen noodle dishes, some vegetarian ones with "meaty" soy hams and chunky vegetables.

And I'm not vegetarian.

Just let the cook know and most are nice enough to try and customise for you.

try some miso, rice, veggies, whatever . just stay away from the sushi && other seafood && stuff.. lol erm this is kind of an acquired taste, but natto is fermented beans.. you could try that with rice .
