Isn't it great that Obama promised to adopt a regular dog from a shelter, thus setting an important example ?

The dog they are getting is a gift from Senator Kennedy. It is from a breeder but was returned to the breeder by a family that couldn't keep it. Senator Kennedy got it for them as a gift. The Obamas are going to make a donation to the DC Animal Shelter.
Am I disappointed? you bet...I don't think that anyone should purchase a companion animal. I think that everyone should adopt.
BUT do I think it is the worst thing in the world to accept a gift from an ill friend, no.

Yea because adopting a dog is much more important then dealing with our foriegn affairs, Yea it was nice but he could be doing other things.

On a side note keep in mind the Bidens got a dog from the breeder both he and the breeder suffered from a lot of bad publicity and attacks from peta. One of two things happened:
A: Other breeders learned of the massive fines imposed on the breeder who sold to the Bidens (over REDICULOUS things). And refused to sell to him.
B: Obama learned from Bidens mistake. (The animal people were watching him like a hawk after that).
