Q: Why isn't the printer working?

A: Did it jam with papers? Is ink lacking?

A: Get the printers manual (should be on the cd, but you can google for it if you don't have that). See whether the lights on the printer blink normally. There's a section in the printer manual that tells you what blinking sequence codes what error.

A: if you turn teh printer on, wait a few secs, hold down ctrl and press p a little print box will pop up now if you just press ok what happens? it can be any page on the com but you might as well just do it here. if nothing still happens go and and check the hp site for an updated driver. of course this is only if the driver your using was on teh cd that came with it. heres teh driver page: http://funadvice.com/r/14sn0aomf8l another thing with a lot of printers is how you install the driver. most ask you to install teh driver then attatch the printer to the system. i know a lot of people that plug the printer in and then install the driver.
