Is this wrong?

Asked by tinkpixi18 about 1 month ago, 9 answers.

Is it wrong to not want to go to church anymore b/c girls act and dress really revealing and the guys don't care if you're taken or not?And b/c most of the teens are only there for dating and hangout! I do read my bible at home listen to sermons on cd and listen to Joyce meyer like 3 x a week. I feel bad when I hurt someone and I feel bad when I slip up and cuss. I don't own any movies that are rated over g to avoid more pointless sins and I don't associate with people who drink/drugs/party or want to sleep around break people up etc. I live a clean pretty much happy life am I doing something wrong? I try not to let worldly things bother me but I hate sleazy stuff and I don't know how to say it any nicer!

Yeah I agree wholeheartedly with Jax. I think it's really unique of you not to follow what others are doing and to dance to the beat of your own drum. I find it very honorable. I believe you should keep doing it if it makes you happy, and it gives you good results in your life.

Jesus wants us to follow him... and if that means that we have to leave the church to do so, then so be it.

I read what you wrote on your profile after this question. And your definatley not doing anything wrong. And you get my props for the way you live life. But not all people who drink and do drugs are bad, lol. I happen to be a part of the most loyal, mellow, fun loving crew on this earth. you turn to god in times of need, I turn to them. Your younger than I am, congrats on finding the love of your life, im still looking for mine. But your also missing out on so much more that life has to offer. Don't be a slave to society

I think the whole point is that she's not being a slave to society! You may need to look around for a different church or youth group, by the sound of it. I wouldn't 'go-it-alone' because God designed us to worship together and learn from each other. The group you're avoiding may well be pretty lax and sinful, but leaving it without finding another Christian group will leave you very isolated.

And pray for the people you're leaving. Jesus' parable about not complaining about the speck in someone else's eye while we leave the log in our own eye is very hard-hitting and upsets us all when we think on it properly. Maybe these guys in the church have a fairly big 'speck' in their eyes with sexual immorality. But being on your own, you might get into having a 'log' in your own eye with thinking that you're better than the rest! (I don't know that for sure, it's just a suggestion.)

So keep on remembering that we are all sinners, sometimes with different 'besetting sins' - theirs might be conforming to the world but yours could be judgement or arrogance or something else unless you remember your own dependence on Jesus and His death for you. I feel really bossy saying that to you because I don't know you at all - really I'm just speaking about my own experience of judgement and arrogance, so please don't take it personally if it's not relevant!

No it's okay I do pray for those people and I'm not arrogant.I just can't help them b/c it leads to pointless arguments.I would love for them to be prayed for by anyone and blessed.I do not do good around guys that think it's ok to use the church as a dating scene.I mean ther's appropriate and innapropriate and they go way past the inapp. line. And it's reg church by the way singles go and try to look for dates. This is wrong.Ihave had to switch to 4 churches already it's everywhere even in formal so I listen to joyce myers and listen to the bible on cd.

By living a true Christian life it is all the witnessing you need. If someone wants what you have (true Christian character) then you have done exactly what God asks us all to do. God bless you! Keep up the good work.
