Try eating more. It is probably because of low blood sugar.

You are getting up too fast and it takes a few seconds for the blood to flow freely back around the brain. Dont worry, it is quite common.

If it gets worse, I would suggest that you seek medical advice.

The technical follow up from a medical site puts it as:

When you stand up quickly gravity pulls blood from your brain towards your feet and blood doesn't return to the brain until the next heart beat.

With a slow pulse, this takes a second or two and that is enough time to feel the lack of oxygen in the symptom of lightheadedness or dizziness.

It is also related to something called postural hypotension. This results from a decrease in blood flow to the brain, due to a drop in blood pressure upon standing up.

As long as it occurs only occasionally, there’s little cause for alarm.

I have had this before and this is similar to what my doc told me. However, as you say, not eating enough could also cause this but there would most likely be other symptoms along with it such as general weakness, weightloss etc... which the poster does not mention.

You may like to look up the technical name for this condition which is Postural Hypotension (orthostatic) on Google and see if this fits your symptoms.

It is very common.

OK... here we go with the because your too skinny thing again... Ok I have the same problem I do it almost everyday... I went to the doctor and its not because you eat to less cause I eat more trhan a pig... You get up to fast... My doc said before you get up sit there for a minute then stand for a minute and you should be fine... As long as you eat 3 meals a day dont listen to people. People these days are all fat and tend to think we are unhealthy when they are the ones dropping over with heart attacks.

NO IT IS NOT NORMAL FOR YOU TO AUTOMATICALLY GET UP

you might have restless leg disorter call youre docter about it as soon as you read this or go to http://www.mirapex.com/?sc=MIRMIWEBSEM0507_001 to get a subscription.

these are the symptoms.
It begins as a strange feeling in your legs that seems to get worse until you stand up and move around. Deep inside your legs you can feel burning, creeping, and crawling sensations that are hard to describe, even to your doctor. Meanwhile, you cope with your condition the best you can.
If these symptoms describe the way you are feeling, you may have restless legs syndrome (RLS), a sensorimotor condition that affects millions of Americans.
Restless legs syndrome can be a primary or a secondary condition. Primary restless legs syndrome is the main form of the disease. While no one is sure what causes primary restless legs syndrome, nearly half of the time it can be traced to a family history. There is currently no cure for primary restless legs syndrome. Secondary restless legs syndrome is caused by an unrelated condition such as pregnancy, anemia, or iron deficiency. Once the unrelated condition has been treated, secondary RLS will usually go away without further treatment.*

Hi Maxypoo,
I'm a bit confused with your opening response...'OK... here we go with the because your too skinny thing again... '.

I have read all the replies before this and can see nowhere where anyone has mentioned about being too skinny.

Low blood sugar and not eating enough was mentioned. Not eating enough in this context does not mean skinny. For example, someone may be on the large side and skip breakfast, then later that morning this would likely affect their blood sugar level resulting in what the opening poster has described.

It appears that you may have looked for something and found it in the responses where it did not exist.

Interestingly enough, the rest of your post goes on to say similar to what I have posted in response. I too suffer from this on occassions and as you can see from my pics, I am far from skinny. *smile*

blondie1, going 'blind' for a couple of seconds is also typical of this.

Generally nothing to worry about but it can be an indication of blood pressure issues.

Generally the doc will suggest that you dont get up so quickly or if you are lying down, move to a seating position for 30 seconds or so before standing up.

If you do this and it still continues, best to get medical advice even if it is just for reassurance.

I think you will find that this problem is far more common than you think and throughout all age groups.

I'm like 6'5' and it happens to me a lot because I stand up way fast and I'm tall so my blood's like 'ahhh!' and then I can't see for a few seconds.

This used to happen to me all of the time. I would black out. If you go to the doctor they can give you beta blockers and it will go away. It is postural hypotension. Just ask your doctor. I take the medecine because I kept getting hurt when I would black out.

I've tried to get up slower, and its working.
I dont know what alyrules10 was going on about, it has nothing to do with my legs.
