babybump - you sound like me with my first one lol! and when I had my second I was determined not to go through that again. (knowing you are in the uk) I brought the tommy tippee sensor 8 baby monitor, it monitos;
*room tempreture.
*visual indicator when baby is crying.
*sound in babies room
*walky abouty system.
* and THE BEST BIT OF ALL! it has a pad, that goes under the babies mattress, and everytime the baby breathes, the handset 'clicks'! it amazing! seriously, don't know what I would have done without it, in fact I used it up until he was 2, becuase I'm so paranoid lol! you now what, no matter what people say, better to be paranoid that take it for granted. so whenever babies moves or breathes, the monitor clicks, I have to warn you, that when baby gets mobile they can move off of the generous size mat and shock the life out of you because' an alarm goes of when the mat doesn't detect any movement for 20 seconds...
their only babies for such a small amount of time that, I didn't care what anyone else said. if I want to be a little neurotic, then so be it! it was about £100 new, but worth EVERY single penny, how much do you pay for peace of mind?
I don't think you're paranoid, I think you have a little baby and you want it to be well and healthy. and with all the scare stories, it's hardly surprising mums who want the best for their babies fret! I didn't take my stairgates down till 5 months ago and my boys 4 and a half lol!
the tommee tippee was the best investment I made, check out eBay for a cheaper one if need be, but it will some peace of mind!
and babybump, I really am genuine that it is better to care too much, than not at all!
I would say a little bit
if he had a medical problem or something that would stop or slow his breathing it would be perfectly fine to be paranoid and keep checking
but if he is a healthy baby then you shouldnt need to constantly check his breathing
he can handle it!
if your worried though perhaps you could get a baby monitor from his cot to your dresser or bedside table ect so if any noise or anything is made youd know right away
but its not necessary to check it so much if hes healthy
I know as a mother though your going to be extreemly concerned and worried about the slightest things that might go wrong and that
but he can handle his breathing if hes healthy!
im not a mother but my best friend is, and she was like that with her daughter when she was 1st born, I guess if it keeps you happy and feeling relxad then I say keep doing it, no harm in checkin I suppose xxx
Yes, it is normal. When I had my son we put him a bassinet right next to out bed and I would put my hand over his mouth to feel him breathing. And if he didn't wake up when he usualy did, I would automaticly wake up to check on him.
When turned 3 weeks old we started to put him in his own bed and that was so hard I could barley stand it! I was constantly going in his room and checking on him!
Just try your hardest not to worry about it too much, and make sure you are getting plenty of sleep as well ok
no, its normal..
its the parental side of you showing. making sure that you still have your baby with you. I did that with my sister, its normal
you sound like you are going to be a very protective parent in the future..that is good kind of your kid will probably thank you for not just abondining them
Thanks guys =] I feel better now .. I will check out that monitor =]
Hehe... I did that for the first 4 months, it's completely normal. Just be thankful that your baby has such a caring parent.

Paranoid that my baby is still breathing throughout the night
I am constantly awake in the night checking my baby is still breathing I get so paranoid when I cant hear him, so I check he is still breathing and sleep with the light on low so I can look over in his cot from my bed. Am I too paranoid??
