Is this a good speech?
Send me Fun Mail
Have you ever had to tell your family and friends bye and know that you might not see them again, to go to a place where you have to look over your shoulder every minute of the day and know you are never safe?
I bet all you would answer no to that. But ask any Soldier thats been to war and they would answer yes
So Im wanting to tell you a few more things they have to do and why I would consider them my heroes.
First, What is a Soldier? To me it is a person distinguished by exceptional courage and nobility and strength - someone who fights for a cause - a voluntary, non-selfish, honorable choice.
1. Soldiers know when they register they are risking everything. But does that stop them?
No, soldiers stand strong and determined.
2. Soldiers do more than just fight in wars. They are also there when any disaters happen. When a soldier is need that soldier is there.
3. Without soldiers we wouldn't have the freedom we have today.
When we say soldiers you might just think about the ones over seas right now. What about the soldiers who fought in WWI and WWII or Vietnam?
4. "Every morning I am happy that I wake up, Every night I look at my cot like a long-lost friend that has been found. And somewhere in between I try to grab a meal, feel lucky I made it through another day and wonder when they are going to send me home." Wrote Zach Routzahn, 27 of Lewistown, Illinois.
5. I want to share a short story with you about Ben McCoy 32 of Concord. He signed up with the National Guard when he was 17. He left for basic training in June of 95 at age 18. In 2002 the Iraqi war was declared. Sgt McCoy set off Mobilization in February 2003 - October 2003 In Carolina. For any that might not know what mobilization means it is the act of assembling and putting into readiness for war or other emergency. Once back from mobilization he married on February 10, 2004. He recieved a notication in late december that he was to be deployed over seas in May of 05. Soon finding out his wife was pregnant. On November 4, 2005 she gave birth to a boy. Ben was not able to be there for the birth. He returned home about a week after the birth to only return back to Iraq within a month and to not see his child till June of 06. I have always considered Ben as my hero. Not only for being in the National Guard but also for being a good peron with a great personality also very respectful person. Now back home, he has had twin on March 5, 2008. Now in June he is facing the chance of having to leave again for Iraq once again.
