How can i teach my cat her name?

I just adopted a cat this summer and her name... is Kitty i guess we never really named her. She doesn't react when i call her name but is there a way to get her to know her name or something?

She will learn it over time I have a cat with 2 names and she will answer to either and both. talk to your cat often they like that when you feed her always use her name.

You might try calling it's name as you hold a treat at eye level - the second it looks you in the eye, give it the treat - repeat - enough times it will look at you when you call it's name...Good luck !!

over time she will respond and definately reinforce the name when its feeding time...i had a cat that responded to a whistle when he was out, now the two cats i've adopted as strays respond to the same whistele.. my cats also respond to the sound of the engine on my car, they know when i've just parked up because they all come out to me... my cats even understand the word no, though it is said in a stern tone... also if they have an accident on the floor and i say ' who's done that' they all run and hide... talk about admitting to being guilty... cats are more intelligent then the let on... they are very good at ignoring you too .

I've had a cat for a few years, and eventually he learned his name. If you're patient, she'll eventually learn her name. Just give it some time.

Eventually she will learn her name, some cats take longer than others. A reward system can help.
It's also easier for animals to learn simple names, my dad always told me no more than two syllables for a pet name.
